A Biblical Perspective of Math

2019-10-28 00:58:42/Jenni & Jody

We don’t know about you, but if we’re being totally honest, we have never considered math from a Biblical perspective. Of course we know that God created all things, and clearly that includes math, but to think about from a decidedly Christian perspective was an entirely new concept to us. If you’re in the same boat, today’s guest is going to spark a whole new way of thinking!

“You can teach math practically without teaching it biblically, just like you can wear a police uniform without being a policeman. But, if you're a policeman, you will use the police uniform. If we really see math as a way of describing God's creation, then we would want to teach it that way, and it makes sense, and it does help the student to get it.”

Katherine [Loop] Hannon

Katherine [Loop] Hannon is a homeschool graduate and the author of various resources, including a biblical worldview math curriculum. She’s been researching, writing, and speaking on math, as well as other topics for more than 15 years.

In this podcast episode, Katherine talks about applying a Christian worldview to your math studies and inspires us all to marvel at God’s handiwork in a whole new way! When we consider math studies as a means of better understanding God and the world He created, it changes the way we approach the subject. In this episode of From Cradle to Calling podcast, Katherine will touch on these concepts and inspire us to revisit some of our old ways of thinking about education.

You can connect with Katherine and her program in a few ways:

“When you think about how many different tools in math, you've got calculus, you've got algebra, you've got all these different concepts, and it's because creation is so complex that it takes all these different things just to begin to describe the complexities that God's made -- that he spoke into existence -- our head spins over math. It should be spinning over, "Wow, God, you are an amazing God!”
