This year long course provides an in-depth study of American English grammar, using a structured approach to mastering each part of speech and its role in sentence structure. It builds strong grammar skills that prepare students for college entrance exams and advanced high school English courses. This course takes a structured approach to exploring each part of speech and its function within the broader framework of sentence syntax. Students will engage with video lectures, targeted homework assignments, quizzes, and tests. A dedicated vocabulary-building component further supports mastery by helping students recognize parts of speech and understand the etymology of words. 8 Steps to Powerful Studying

This course walks students through the eight powerful steps of studying any subject. These include pre-learning for classes and taking effective textbook notes, maximizing class time and taking effective lecture notes, processing notes to make the most of them as a study tool, individual studying to master difficult material, group study to supplement and clarify material, pre-testing yourself both individually and with a study group, maximizing test performance, and reviewing tests effectively. For most kids, studying means reading over their textbook and notes and perhaps creating some flashcards, but if we understand that studying encompasses all it takes to truly master a subject and to demonstrate mastery by scoring well on assignments, exams, projects, and papers, then the total process includes much more. We have identified eight powerful steps of studying any material, and in this course, we walk students through each step, with hands-on, practical lessons that they can put into practice right away.
